Orange is the Answer

Improving lives in Oklahoma and beyond is core to our mission at Oklahoma State University. Our researchers facilitate collaborative, transformative research that promises extraordinary outcomes in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education at all levels. And that's just the beginning.

Who is educating the next generation of STEM leaders?

Orange is the Answer. The OSU College of Arts and Sciences hosted its first Summer STEM Academy in July, welcoming 26 incoming first-year students to participate in programming designed to better prepare them to enter their STEM majors. In addition to math courses, participants also attended lab experiences, field trips and professional development workshops.

Who does the state turn to for innovative solutions to the world's most pressing issues?

Orange is the Answer. National Science Foundation Director Sethuraman Panchanathan and U.S. Rep Frank Lucas toured OSU research facilities and praised faculty and students for their groundbreaking advances and innovative approaches to tackling society's most pressing challenges, as well as the work being done to advance research and STEM education. OSU is home to some of the nation's premier research spaces, including the newest unmanned-systems-research and mixed-reality labs.

Where can the state find inclusive STEM opportunities?

Orange is the Answer. Thanks to a $1.4 million National Science Foundation grant, Oklahoma middle school students will have the opportunity to learn how to navigate virtual reality. The grant will fund a four-year program focused on engaging Native American students in STEM career development. OSU faculty have teamed up to start after-school technology labs at three tribal nation middle schools — the Citizen Potawatomi Nation in Shawnee, the Pawnee Nation and the Chickasaw Nation.

Committed to providing increased accessibility to K-12 education

OSU recently developed and launched the new OSU STEM Education Hub to be a one-stop-shop for STEM education resources and opportunities to increase awareness and expand STEM education across the OSU system. Through collaborative efforts, the OSU STEM Hub is intended to serve K-12 teachers and students, college and university students and professors, and parents and guardians. This groundbreaking effort ensures the accessibility of STEM resources to the wider public.

Who is Oklahoma's advanced technology education leader?

Orange is the Answer. Through our land-grant mission, OSU is advancing workforce solutions through statewide programming and innovative partnerships. OSU Polytech is Oklahoma’s technology workforce leader and brings the most practical, applied learning opportunities through curriculum and outreach.
