What is aviation management?

Aviation management encompasses principles and concepts from marketing, finance, ethics, leadership communications and safety that are applied within the aviation and aerospace industry.

As an aerospace administration and operations major with an option in aviation management, you will be prepared for professional careers within both the private aviation industry and aerospace government organizations.

Not only do our students earn a four-year degree through this accredited program, but they are also fully immersed in the OSU community and have access to an exceptional college experience. The program’s holistic approach allows students to balance time spent perfecting their skills with taking advantage of all OSU has to offer, including Big 12 sporting competitions, 500 plus student organizations, leadership opportunities and so much more. Internships 

Internships and real-world experiences are central to the OSU aviation program. Students have opportunities to earn academic credit through internships with organizations such as:

  • Airports and U.S. and international airlines
  • Aircraft manufacturers
  • Private and corporate aviation/aerospace companies
  • Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
  • Department of Homeland Security
  • Security or law enforcement organizations

 

American Association of Airport Executives

OSU is home to one of only 26 student chapters of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), the largest national professional organization for airport executives. Members of AAAE represent nearly 875 airports and authorities, in addition to hundreds of companies and organizations that support airports. Membership benefits include access to scholarship opportunities, professional development programs, training and networking opportunities, national conferences and certification completion. Aviation management students can join the organization and sit for the Certified Member examination to enhance their credentials.
