What is biochemistry and molecular biology?

Biochemistry and molecular biology represent an interdisciplinary science that links the chemical, physical and biological sciences to solve fundamental challenges associated with biomedicine and agriculture. This major trains students to understand how molecular components of the cell function in unison, how medically prescribed drugs act on cell metabolism, how defects in metabolism lead to disease states, and how molecular biology is applied to genetically modify living organisms.
