Why global studies at OSU?
With a global studies degree at OSU, you will gain a variety of skills, including
a deep understanding of the institutions and processes that shape the world. Our goal
is to increase your cross-cultural knowledge and strengthen your verbal and written
communications skills through unique courses and hands-on experiences, such as study abroad trips.
Students majoring in global studies pursue jobs within the United States and abroad.
They seek careers with local, state or federal agencies, in the private sector, or
with non-governmental and charitable organizations. A global studies major is also
a good way to prepare for law school or graduate study.

You will have the option to fulfill course requirements with either a semester study
abroad or a shorter one or two week course led by department faculty through the Center for Global Learning.
Students majoring in global studies can find volunteer work through the OSU Student Volunteer Center on campus. Opportunities for national and international volunteering can be found
at VolunteerMatch. Volunteering can help communities, while helping students to explore career options
and gain experience.
Our faculty have expertise in nearly every world region, from Latin America to the
Middle East, Australia to Oceania and beyond. Faculty have received funding from prestigious
organizations, such as UNESCO, National Geographic, Fulbright-Hayes, National Science
Foundation and International Research and Exchanges Board.
