Financial aid checklist

Become part of the 80% of OSU students who receive scholarships and financial aid. It is as easy as 1-2-3.

1. Apply for admission

  • OSU application
  • Transfer scholarships
  • When you apply to OSU, you're automatically applying for scholarships as well.

    2. Complete the FAFSA

    The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens October 1 for the following school year. OSU's school code is 003170. Certain funding is limited and earliest applicants receive priority.

  • Some items need follow-up action from you for your aid to be processed. Make sure you check for updates in these places.

    Loan history

    There are loan limits for undergraduate and graduate students. You can view your borrowing history at all schools at studentloans.gov.

     Our office is required by federal regulations to determine whether you are progressing toward your degree requirements. Check out our policy for information on GPA, Completion Rate and Maximum Hour requirements. 

    Scholarship deadlines

    • Fall-entering students

      Feb. 1 for priority scholarship consideration;

      May 1 is College Decision Date. Some scholarships must be accepted by this date or they may be cancelled. 

      August 16 is the last day to submit application materials, such as updated test scores or transcripts for final scholarship consideration. 

    • Spring-entering students

      Oct. 15 for priority scholarship consideration; the Friday before spring classes begin is the final scholarship deadline.
