Transfer Admission Requirements

Criteria

You are eligible to apply as a transfer if you've attempted a minimum of seven semester hours of college-level credit after graduation from high school. If you've attempted less than seven hours, refer to the freshman admission requirements. Please note, some academic colleges may have additional program-specific admission criteria.

 

*Excluding incomplete, passing grades (ex: "P" or "S"), remedial/developmental, repeated/forgiven credit and activity courses.

Repeat Course Policy

The repeated course policy at OSU is getting a student-friendly upgrade as part of a new statewide policy update. Going into effect June-July 2025, the updated repeat policy expands how academic forgiveness is applied to active undergraduate students with repeated courses.

The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) revised the statewide repeat policy,  allowing undergraduate students to repeat courses up to four times to earn a better grade, with only the highest grade considered in GPA calculations for those attempts. Any attempts beyond the fourth will impact GPA calculations, and all attempts will be documented on transcripts with notations indicating how it counts in GPA and earned hours calculations.

The policy will be evaluated and implemented during June-July 2025 for all active undergraduate students with repeated courses, involving a review of transcripts and updates when needed to align with the new policy.

 

Appeal Process

Students who don't meet transfer admission requirements but feel their past academic performance is not indicative of their ability to succeed in college can submit a petition for admission on probation via their application portal after an admission decision has been made. 

 

Transfer probation petitions must be submitted by noon the Thursday before the start of the term for which you have applied.
