What is turf management?

The turf management option prepares students for production and management of turfgrass in diverse settings including golf courses, landscapes and roadsides.

Why turf management?

The turf management option prepares you for careers in turfgrass management or advanced studies in turfgrass science by providing a strong foundation in science, plant science, communications and mathematics to provide creative problem-solving skills.

Nearly 100 percent of graduating turfgrass specialists, at OSU and nationwide, accept positions in the turfgrass industry upon graduation.

 

Real-world experiences

Hands-on laboratories are included in many courses. You will have the unique advantage of utilizing the Greenhouse Learning Center, The Botanic Garden at OSU, and the Water Conservation and Irrigation Training Center. All students in the department are also required to complete an internship prior to graduation.

 

In-house designs

OSU-developed turfgrasses can be found in ballparks and stadiums across the country including OSU’s Allie P. Reynolds Stadium, OU’s Owen Field, Tennessee Titans’ Nissan Stadium, Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium, Baltimore Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium and Kansas City Royals’ Kauffman Stadium.
